How do I make my own cornhole bags?
Making cornhole bags can be a fun and rewarding DIY project. I started Standard Bag Company when I decided I wanted to try it myself and I always encourage others that have the patience and time to do the same. Here are the steps to make cornhole bags:
Materials:
Fabric (duck cloth, cotton canvas, polyester or suede is recommended)
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Scissors
Ruler or measuring tape
Corn or plastic pellets for filling
Funnel (optional)
Steps:
Cut the fabric into squares measuring 7 inches by 7 inches. You will need eight squares for each set of cornhole bags.
Place two squares of fabric with right sides together and sew around three sides using a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Leave the fourth side open.
Turn the fabric right side out and fill the bag with corn or plastic pellets. Each bag should weigh between 15-16 ounces.
Once filled, fold the open edge of the bag inward and sew it shut using a sewing machine or needle and thread.
Repeat the process with the remaining squares of fabric until you have a complete set of eight cornhole bags.
Tips:
It is important to use a durable fabric like duck cloth or cotton canvas to ensure that the bags can withstand frequent use.
Use a funnel to help pour the corn or plastic pellets into the bags, and fill each bag to the appropriate weight.
You can use different colors or patterns of fabric to personalize your cornhole bags.
Consider double stitching the seams or adding reinforcing stitches to ensure that the bags do not tear or come apart during use.
By following these steps, you can make your own cornhole bags and enjoy playing this fun game with family and friends. If you’re interested in playing in local ACL leagues or tournaments, check out our selection of professional, high-quality cornhole bags.
