What are the rules of cornhole?
Cornhole is a popular outdoor game that is played with two boards and eight cornhole bags. Here are the basic rules for playing cornhole:
Set up the boards: Place the two cornhole boards 27 feet apart from front edge to front edge. The front edge of the boards should be exactly even with the ground.
Choose teams: Cornhole is usually played with two teams of two players each.
Toss the coin: Toss a coin to determine which team will go first.
Play begins: The team that wins the coin toss starts by throwing one of their cornhole bags towards the opposite board. Players must alternate turns, throwing all four of their bags before the other team takes their turn.
Scoring: Points are scored as follows:
A bag that lands on the board: 1 point
A bag that goes through the hole: 3 points
Points cancel each other out. For example, if one team scores 2 points and the other scores 1 point, the first team gets 1 point for that round.
Winning the game: The game is won when a team reaches 21 points or more, with a lead of at least 2 points. If both teams have the same score, the game goes into overtime until one team gets a lead of 2 points.
Fouls: Fouls in cornhole include stepping over the line while throwing, throwing out of turn, and touching the bags while they are still in motion. Fouls result in the loss of that bag's points and forfeiting of the remaining bags for that turn.
These are the basic rules for cornhole, but variations may exist in different regions or tournaments.
